Adar Poonawala, who arrived in Britain with his wife and children, said- left the country after pressure from some of the most powerful people over vaccine

CEO of Serum Institute of India, Adar Poonwala has moved to the UK, including his wife and children. In an interview with a UK newspaper, he said that some of the most powerful people in India spoke fiercely to him about the vaccine supply. Due to this pressure, he has come to Britain.

Amid the second devastating wave of the Coronavirus epidemic in the country of London, Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla spoke of the pressure on him to increase the supply of Covid-19 vaccine. He said that all the burden is falling on his head while this work is not under his control alone. Poonawala has been given ‘Y’ category security this week by the Government of India.

According to the Indian government officials, Poonawala was given protection in view of the possible dangers. Central Reserve Police Force personnel will be under his protection anywhere in the country. These will have 4-5 commands.

Poonawala told the newspaper, “I am staying here (London) more than the scheduled time because I don’t want to go back to that position.” Everything has fallen on my shoulders, but I can’t do it alone. I don’t want to be in a situation where you’re just trying to do your job, and just because you meet everyone’s needs Can not, you cannot guess what they will do in return.

The CEO of Serum Institute said, ‘The level of expectation and furiousness of the people is truly unprecedented. This is too much. Everyone thinks they should get the vaccine. They cannot understand why someone else should get it before them. ‘ He indicated in the interview that his London trip was also linked to business plans to increase vaccine manufacturing outside India and that London might be among his choices.

When asked about vaccine production locations outside India, Poonawala said, “An announcement is going to be made in the next few days.” He said, “We are really gasping for everyone’s help.” Poonawala said, ‘I do not think even God will feel that the situation is going to be so bad.’

On the accusation of profiteering, he called it ‘completely wrong’ and said that Covishield is still the ‘cheapest vaccine in the world’. Poonawala said, ‘We have not done anything wrong or profiteering. I will wait for history to judge us. ‘
