This Tuesday turned out to be an unfortunate day for Bihar’s parliamentary history. As the RJD leaders and activists vehemently protested against the police bill from the assembly to the streets.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders, legislators, and activists protested throughout the entire day in Bihar against the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill, showing their displeasure against the bill. In protest against this bill, RJD MLAs took Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vinay Kumar Sinha hostage and did not let him leave his chamber.
Many MLAs, Policemen, and Journalists Injured In The Bihar Parliament Clash
Assembly Speaker Vinay Kumar Sinha called the police along with the marshal in the assembly. After this, legislators of opposition parties, including RJD, clashed with the police, many legislators, policemen, and journalists were also hurt during the ruckus in the Bihar assembly. While the RJD MLAs have accused the police of assaulting the MLAs and breaking the sanctum of the Assembly, causing Bihar’s politics to heat up.
According to reports, Rashtriya MLA Satish Das suffered severe injuries during the commotion and was later seen to be taken to the hospital on a stretcher for treatment. At the same time, CPI MLA Satyendra Yadav and RJD MLA Reetlal Yadav were also injured in the disorder. While the RJD MLA Satis Das had accused the police of purposely beating him and the opposition members up.
The ambulance was also called and the injured MLAs were hospitalized after the commotion was over.
The situation came to be when the opposition MLAs in an act of protest against the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill surrounded Assembly speaker Vinay Kumar Sinha’s chamber. Sensing the urgency of the situation, Patna DM and SSP along with heavy police force entered the Assembly house to rescue Mr. Sinha. The opposition MLAs were not happy with the high-handedness of the police and reportedly lashed out against the policemen. There were also reports of MLAs misbehaving with the Patna DM and SSP. The uproar lasted from morning to evening.
The Bihar Special Armed Police Bill passed amidst protest
The Bihar Special Armed Police Bill was finally passed in the evening amid heavy opposition from opposition legislators. Earlier, a copy of the police bill was torn as a sign of disapproval. Also, an attempt was made to snatch a copy of the bill from Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad. However, this was strongly opposed by the NDA MLAs. When the bill was introduced in the evening, picketing and slogans started inside the house and outside the Speaker’s office.
