Triple mutant virus: know what is the triple mutant variant of corona found in Bengal, how the virus dangerous; How effective is the vaccine?

The second wave of Corona in the country has been unabated. Lack of oxygen, increasing strength of the virus, and rapidly deteriorating health systems have created a frightening situation in the country. Meanwhile, the coronavirus is rapidly changing its form. The coronavirus is becoming more deadly. In the past, another new form of the corona has emerged in the country. It was named the Triple Mutant Variant of Corona. The triple mutant variant of coronavirus has also started spreading in the country. Due to its appearance for the first time in West Bengal, it is also being called the ‘Bengal variant’.

Triple mutant virus

Earlier, the Double Mutant Variant of Corona was found in Maharashtra. Apart from this, cases of UK, Brazil, and South African variants have also been reported in the country. Scientists believe that the huge increase in new cases of infection worldwide, including India, is due to new variants of the virus. In such a situation, it is important to know what is the triple mutant variant of the corona, how deadly it is, and whether the vaccine is effective against it.

What is the triple mutant variant of coronavirus?

As the name suggests, this is a form of the virus in which not one or two, but three times changed. Research is currently being done on this, but it is feared that changing such forms of the virus can be very dangerous. Scientists have named the triple mutant variant B.1.618. This new variant of the coronavirus has been detected in West Bengal. It is a combination of three different strains of the virus or it can be understood that the three forms of the virus together have taken a new form. That is, three different strains of the coronavirus have combined into a new variant. There have been some cases of triple mutants infected in Maharashtra, Delhi, and Bengal.

Triple mutants are smarter!

Initial investigations suggest that the genetic variant found in it is much smarter and can also attack the bodies of people who have already had antibodies in their bodies. According to the scientists, the study will only get information about how deadly or contagious the triple mutant variant of the coronavirus is. Earlier studies found that the double mutant variant of the corona is not only spreading rapidly, but it is also engulfing children. Double mutants were found to be more severe pathogens. However, triple mutant variants are still being studied. Only then something can be said.

How dangerous are new forms of corona?

It has been feared that the new variant of the virus may be very dangerous to take new forms of the virus repeatedly. Professor Madhukar Pai in the Department of Epidemiology at McGill University has said that it is a much more transitive variant. This is making a lot of people sick very quickly. The delay in the detection of double mutants is probably due to such a rapid increase in new cases. According to him, the more the virus spreads, the more it gets into the mutation and becomes its own form. A few days ago in India, cases of double mutants were reported in Maharashtra and Punjab. Now cases of triple mutants have been found in Bengal along with these two states. This means that the virus is rapidly changing its form.

Both vaccines work on double and triple mutants.

It is a matter of relief that both the vaccines available in the country (Covishield and Covaxine) are proving effective on them. This was said by Saumitra Das, director of the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics. In a webinar organized on genome sequencing of coronavirus, Das said, double and triple mutants are colloquial terms but in reality, they are only B1.617 variants of coronavirus. They are similar in some respects. They have symptoms resembling each other.

Covishield is effective on double mutants.

The Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) study also found that the serum institute’s covishield vaccine is effective on the double mutant variant of the virus.
